Rose Festival Fleet Week

Wednesday-Sunday, June 3-7

The sailors are coming up river to spawn. VFP 72 members are invited to come on down to the Peace Park and the East Bank Esplanade to show our flags and banners on Wednesday the 3rd. Since the schedule of the arrival of the ships is not released until right before they head up river, keep an eye out in the paper for the time. Usually in the early to mid afternoon. During the week we will occasionally stroll past the ships with our VFP flags and check the ratio of peace signs to single finger salutes. Wear your swag if you've got it. VFP 72 business cards and other info will be available to give to the sailors. We will also be passing out copies of the War Crimes Times.

Love Makes a Family organizing two booths

August 28-September 7

Oregon State Fair

The booths, one on Family Equality, and one with the theme "Peace is a Family Value" provide the opportunity to talk to people about our families and ways we can work for peace in the world, and give people the opportunity to take action to show their support for peace and for equality. Last year we passed out about 10,000 "Love Makes A Family" and "Peace is a Family Value" stickers and gathered signatures on the petition to keep the National Guard home in Oregon (now a major organizing campaign) and to support equal rights for all families.

You can help by signing up to volunteer - thanks to the several hundred of you who have volunteered over the past 5 years- and by asking organizations, including faith congregations, you are a part of to cosponsor the booths. I've attached a flyer you can reproduce and distribute. Please email or call me about your plans, or with information about groups I should contact.

Thanks,
