This month's meeting is all about new resources and contact points at the Bureau of Development Services that will help Land Use folks from Neighborhood Associations with their Land Use Review responsibilities. It includes some new things: a new Strategic Planning process that not only says what BDS will do but opens lots of doors for any customer, including Neighborhood Associations, to evaluate how well it is being done; an update on new work toward easier information access through the internet for Neighborhood Associations Land Use reviewers; and a new project which allows field follow-up on how well development is building what was planned as well as responding to limitations/conditions applied during the land use review process.

Movie Showing Saturday - Jerusalem the East Side Story

Mohammed Alatar, Director of Palestinians for Peace and Democracy, is presenting one the premier showings of his second film, Jerusalem, the East Side Story, this Saturday at First Congregational Church in Hazel Dell. Alatar will be present to introduce this documentary and to answer question after the showing.


His first film, The Iron Wall, won critical acclaim for its clarity in addressing the central reasons for the Israel/Palestinian conflict today. This new film focuses on Jerusalem which is one of the major points of contention and obstacles to peace in the Middle East.


You will hear the voices of past and current church leaders and Palestinian officials including President Mahmoud Abbas, along with families and children of refugees and those who have suffered the destruction of their homes. Music in the film by the band U2 and others.


Film is free to the public. Donations accepted.
