Friday, August 15, 2 to 4 PM
Friendly House, 1737 NW 26th (at Thurman St.) in the first floor conference room. That room has an 85-person capacity.
Since the regular annual LIHEAP State Plan public hearing will be held in Salem on the morning of August 15th from 9 AM to 12 PM, this additional hearing in Portland later that day will provide many of us who can't get to Salem with an opportunity to comment on the 2009 State Plan and how LIHEAP funding is distributed in Oregon.

Volunteer for Peace AND get free tickets to the State Fair
Love Makes a Family will again be having two booths at the Oregon State Fair in Salem and is seeking volunteers. Bonnie Tinker of the Seriously Pissed Off Grannies is the Executive Director of Love Makes a Family, a Quaker and a Portland peace activist. The two booths will be dedicated to "Equality Is a Family Value" (family equality/basic rights booth) and "Peace Is a Family Value" (peace). The booths will be side-by-side.
The State Fair runs from Friday, August 22, through Monday, September 1. All volunteers receive free tickets to the State Fair.
We need your support! This is a great time to talk to our family, friends and neighbors about both family equality and peace. Volunteers can choose which booth where they wish to table. Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) has asked to take primary responsibility for the peace booth on the opening weekend which is designated as "Veterans Days, which will provide a prime opportunity for them to talk to other military families.
Shifts at the booths are as follows:
9:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon
11:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
2:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
8:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. (Friday and Saturday) (8:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. -- weekdays) (close)
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact statefairpeaceandlove@gmail.com . After August 21, please call (503) 228-3892. For general information about the Oregon State Fair, please see www.oregonstatefair.org
