Editor Suspended

The Editor of this publication, Michael C. Marino, has been suspended by the SPUSA
's National Committee. I finished this issue because it was already started, but future issues, if they come out, will not be under the authorization of the SPUSA.
The reasons given for my suspension are the usual obscure skullduggery, and are not allowed in the Party's own internal documents (the SPUSA Constitution and such). To most readers, this will be of no consequence, because I know most of you are not SPUSA members; but this article should help explain the irregularity of publication that came shortly before this issue and may follow for a while.
For those who are SPUSA members, you might be able to find out why I was suspended by calling Greg at (212) 982-4586. The letter I got from them claims there was a "lack of resolution". Ohhhhh-kay...

"The superior man seeks what is right; the inferior one, what is profitable."
Confucius

"The constant cry that democratic socialism denies liberty. This can be dispose of rather promptly. The liberty that it denies is the liberty of exploitation and the personal enjoyment of special priviledge at other's expense." Norman Thomas (1884-1968), from Socialism Re-Examined, Chapter 9: Socialism in Mid Century, p. 131.

Call for Rummage

In preparation for their annual rummage sale, Radical Women and FSP are putting out a call for your rummage. Got rummage to give? Well, give rummage! Contact FSP directly at (503) 240-4462 or <rwpdx@igc.org

"If universal peace, civilisation, and commerce are ever to be the happy Lot of man, it cannot be accomplished but by a revolution in the system of governments. All the monarchical governments are military. War is their trade, plunder and revenue their objects. While such governments continue, peace has not the absolute security of a day. What is the history of all monarchical governments but a disgustful picture of human wretchedness, and the accidental respite of a few years' repose? Wearied with war, and tired with human butchery, they sat down to rest, and called it peace." -Tom Paine
