Friends of Trees to Train Leaders in Street Tree Care and Planting Coordination
June 10
Friends of Trees invites all who are interested in learning how to organize tree plantings in their neighborhoods this fall to attend the following training event (second of two courses; yes, we did list the first course last month -Ed.). The training is free, but pre-registration is required. To register, call (503) 282-8846 ext. 12 or e-mail brads@friendsoftrees.org for location (TBA).
If you'd like to have a tree planting in your neighborhood this fall or winter, please consider becoming a Neighborhood Coordinator. Participants in the Neighborhood Coordinator Training will learn how to organize tree plantings in their neighborhoods during the upcoming planting season, between November 2006 and April 2007. The coordinators will work with other neighbors and committees to help their neighbors select and order the right tree for the right place, assist in filing permits to plant the trees, and make arrangements for hole digging prior to planting day.
Friends of Trees inspires community stewardship by bringing people in the Portland-Vancouver area together to plant and care for city trees and urban natural areas. For more information about the training events or about Friends of Trees, visit www.friendsoftrees.org
