The Clinton Street Theater at 7pm
Sponsor: The Clinton Street Theater (971) 570-3696
INDEPENDENT INTERVENTION just had its Portland Premiere at The Longbaugh Film Festival in the beginning of April. The show sold out and we got a great response. The Clinton Street Theater is now showing the film for one week. INDEPENDENT INTERVENTION is an award-winning documentary about the US media coverage of the war in Iraq. Focusing on the human costs of war, it contrasts the mass media's coverage of the invasion of Iraq with independent reports of the brutal realities on the ground. Q & A w/director Tonje Hessen Schei

Free Comic Book Day

Saturday, May 6, all day (participating comic shops)
Free comic book day is... well, a day on which comic publishers and stores try to get new customers by forking out some freebies! There's nothing really revolutionary about comics -- except that they aren't TV.
Some participating stores are Future Dreams (2205 E. burnside), Bridge City Comics (3725 N. Mississippi), and Things From Another World (4133 NE Sandy).
