Join David A. Smith, editor of Inequality Matters, the Growing Economic Divide in America and Its Poisonous Consequences. Inequality Matters highlights America's three decade long shift to rising inequality and the alarming implications of this growing concentration of wealth, income, and economic and political power. Joining Mr. Smith for a panel discussion of this growing social-economic divide in America will be Michael Leachman, Oregon Center for Public Policy; Rev. Marilyn Sewell, Senior Minister of the First Unitarian Church; Tom Chamberlain, Pres. Oregon AFL-CIO. Doors open at 6:30PM. Admssion: $5-20 sliding scale, no one turned away for lack of funds.

Living Earth's First Friday Community Potluck and Discussion. DVD presentation and discussion, "The Power of Community". Creating a sustainable, livable, hopeful post-carbon future seems impossible. But models and possibilities exist, and Cuba's transformation since the decline of the Soviet Union offers excellent examples. After dinner we will watch a video presentation outlining choices, adaptations, and changes that Cuba has made, and consider the positive results of their transition. First Fridays are open to all. Bring a vegetarian or vegan dish to share and join the conversation. No charge, but donations are appreciated.
