For Healthy Communities We Need a Clean Willamette River
Join Sierra Club for our Earth Day Celebrations and Canvasses and take the chance to stand up for the Willamette River. The Willamette River runs through all of our communities, and because we are so far downstream the Portland area gets the brunt of the pollution that ends up in the river. The Sierra Club is working on a campaign to stop toxic dumping in the river at levels we know are unsafe and to protect our communities from harmful toxins like mercury and lead. This is your chance to gather with your community members as we talk to our neighbors about the river and give others a chance to encourage the Department of Environmental Quality to take action to make our water clean and healthy. For each canvass, we'll meet for coffee and breakfast, hear speakers on the issue, and after the canvass, we'll finish up at the park for a bar-b-que. For more information and to RSVP, contact Erica at (503) 243-6656, x301 or erica.maharg@sierraclub.org
