Collective Childcare Meeting
Thursday, May 5th, 6:00pm
6918 N. Albina Ave. (503) 247-9406
Looking to start a collective childcare for parents in the community who can't afford to pay a babysitter and have an evening out, or don't trust most childcare providers to not turn their jobs over to a television? This might also potentially work for parents who have part time jobs and aren't satisfied with the care providers and rates that are currently available out there. This will be a cool way for the children of radical parents to meet each other and develop a network of friends in the community. Let's get together, parents and children, share some food, and talk about our needs.

There will also be a panel discussion on state and local options for school funding. This event is free to all Portland parents and community members. (http://www.portlandparks.org/Planning/skatepark/index.htm). Summaries of the series of public meetings on the other sites being considered will be posted to this website soon.
Portland Parks & Recreation and the SkatePark Leadership Advisory Team (SPLAT) are developing a list of potential skatepark sites around the City of Portland. In March 2005 we hosted a series of public meetings on many of the sites being considered. One site - near the Steel Bridge, which belongs to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), was not discussed at any of the meetings, in anticipation of ODOT's decision about whether this site could be further considered for this use. Now that they have confirmed that they would consider this use, PP&R and SPLAT are hosting one final public meeting to discuss and hear public comment on this potential skatepark site.
So, if you have thoughts on the potential for the Steel Bridge site as a skatepark, join us:

Portland Gives PJTTF Das Boot!
by Michael C. Marino
On April 28, about 8pm, Portland terminated the Portland Joint Terrorist Task Force, setting a precedent for what will likely become a wave of cities kicking their FBI/Gestapo gestalts out of town. The favourite sound-bite of the evening was Mayor Potter's, "the way we protect ourselves, is to take care of each other." The 4-1 City Council vote (Saltzman, dissenting) was met with cheers and applause.
PJTTF: Back to Nazi Germany. Take your glocks with you.
