Portland Copwatch has scheduled three trainings for those who wish to volunteer with us or those who are just curious about police accountability. The three trainings are: Monday, June 27- Portland Copwatch Orientation
Monday, July 25-Your Rights and the Police Seminar Monday, August 29- Portland Copwatch training We request a $10 total donation to secure your place in the trainings. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. The donation will help us cover costs related to the trainings. At the end of the cycle we will issue a certificate indicating which trainings you have completed. It is recommended you attend the first two trainings as background for the Copwatch training in August. Please RSVP by phone or email to secure your place and send your donation to us at the address below. Details on the next training: Portland Copwatch orientation (June 27): Introduces you to our organization and many of the issues we work on, covers possibilities for volunteering, and contextualizes some of the "Alphabet soup" we talk about at meetings. (What's the PJTTF? The CRC? What's the APCA, the AMA, the AFSC? How can you express being anti-police brutality but not anti-police?) Visit Portland's elected officials at City Hall. Increase your knowledge and perspective about our local government in this exchange of ideas. Hear their perspective about public affairs and talk with them about your individual and citywide issues.
Portland has a national reputation for open and responsive government. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about it through this enlightening and enjoyable forum.
