In Re: Treasurer's Report
Comrades, I am writing regarding the paper "hat" which I am sending to this meeting. It is an origami hat folded from paper. Please pass said hat about and see what we can see.
We currently have $150 in the Multnomah County account. I am sending $20 as "seed money" and hoping we can raise $50, in total.
Now, what the heck do we need money for? In April, I spent $634.44 toward maintaining the organization. While I am happy to support the organization, I apologize for my income; it cannot continue to support these expenses.
$21.45 was spent for maintaining the web page. The SPUSA State Committee in Oregon voted to pay for the web page, but they have not reimbursed me for any expenditure, and currently lack a Treasurer. Jim Barrett is going to be taking the job of State Treasurer soon, so this expense will not continue to be a problem.
$612.99 was to maintain the Xerox 860DF printer. While the printer, itself, is free, granted to us by Xerox, the ink and oil maintenance "kit" are not; the paper also costs cash money.
Cde. Martinez has been paying the rent, at $150/month, and the phone line (?$), as well as trying to make sure foodstuff is around and about at most of the meetings, and paid for the most recent purchase of paper.
These expenses add up. Additionally, the supply of stamps is almost gone from both the State and County postage supplies, due to depletion for inner-Party mailings and outreach.
The treasury of the Multnomah County Local can not and will not be spent except as directed by the members: the money we have is your money to do with as you see fit. Since the amount we have is so little, I suggest:
1) No expenditures be approved at this point but that the goal of $200 be attempted;
2) Additional fundraising ideas be implemented; and
3) That the treasury be slowly built up so that large-scale projects may be attempted in the future.
Solidarity forever,
