Lane County Chapter

At a meeting of the Lane County Chapter of the Socialist Party of Oregon, the following resolution was passed:
"Be it RESOLVED by the Lane County Chapter of the Socialist Party of Oregon that:
"We mourn the tremendous loss of innocent life and the destruction of property resulting in the events of September 11, 2001 in New York, Arlington, and in Pennsylvania; and
"We are aware of the anger and resentment felt by many Americans and of the apparent call to arms voiced by the politicians of the two major parties; and
"Being cognizant of all of this, we Socialists join with the vast numbers of people who despair of the cries for revenge.
"Accordingly, we ask for a patient and peaceful addressing of the problems created by the devastating destruction of the lives and a part of the infrastructure of our countrymen and our country. We further join in the prayerful and peaceful demonstrations throughout the country against war and against revenge."
