Socialist Party symbol Helen Keller Memorial Local

As an infant Helen Keller was struck by a fever that left her deaf, blind and mute. Her struggle out of this darkness - subject of the play The Miracle Worker - made her famous and admired. But the applause subsided when the powers that be realized that Keller had become a socialist. She joined the Socialist Party in 1909.

The Helen Keller Memorial Local, covering all of the counties in Oregon East of the Cascades, was created in [look up year]; it is currently inactive and receives mail at the State post office box for the Socialist Party of Oregon.

Candidates who ran in the HKML area included Rohn and Darlene Webb; both of whom outpolled Ralph Nader in their respective areas.
