ARCHIVES
This is a directory of directories of archives for the Socialist Party of Oregon. Some general explanation of the categories:
Bush: America's Miserable Failure, George "Dubya" Bush, presented here in all his nativity.
Data:
Editorial: An editorial is an opinion expressed by one person (not [usually] a group). None of the opinions herein have the express or implied agreement of the Socialist Party of Oregon. The editorials reflect the author's view and not, necessarily, that of the Party.
Foreign Affairs -- when the News section got too big, we moved international news and foreign affairs to its own directory. (And it's already getting too big -- we're considering breaking it down into countries, or separating out "world news" from overseas news.)
History of the SPO: This is a (very incomplete) set of documents, most detailing our prior election returns. We also store generic historical documents here.
Humor: Political cartoons, articles, and other documents that pertain to being amused.
Iraq files: These are files on the U.S.-vs.-Iraq occupation currently being pursued by the Enron (Bush) Administration.
Israel-Palestine files: These are articles on the fighting in the Middle East in Palestine, particularly among Israel, the Occupied Terriroties, and Lebanon.
Katrina: News, resources, editorials, projects.
McReynolds' series: David McReynolds, of the War Resisters' League and Socialist Party USA, shares some of what he has learned over the centuries.
News: Links to reports on current events. (New links are constantly added to the top of the list; news articles do not get deleted until the link fails to work, so as you scroll down the list, you get into ever-increasingly not-so-current articles.)
Platform: So far, holds a copy of the Socialist Party of Oregon 2001 Platform. The 2005 Platform is incomplete.
Reviews: Commentary on someone else's work.
Songs: These are things that people sing. If they are so inclined, that is. Mostly labor songs. (Poetry also gets tossed into this folder.)
Speeches: Famous and not-so-famous speeches by well-known and all-but-unknown socialists.
Statements: Similar to an editorial, a Statement is usually issued by a group, or by an individual on behalf of a group, and summarizes a position that the group has adopted. We do not necessarily agree with any of these, either.
War on Terror: Under construction - this directory is currently not ready.
World News: The "news" section covers local (Oregon and United States) topics; "Foreign Affairs" covers news local to other nations or groups of countries. This directory is for planetary news; like stuff about that persistent illusion the Republicans have about global overheating. You know, that illusion that just won't go away no matter how hard they remind each other it's just an illusion? Yeah, that stuff.
