AIDSAIL ACCEPTING VOLUNTEERS FOR MEDICAL RESPONSE TO HURRICANE KATRINA
AIDSail is currently organizing medical staff to volunteer for areas impacted by Hurricane Katrina. AIDSail is working with Veterans for Peace who have been in Covington, LA, just outside New Orleans since September 2, 2005. They have set up a significant permanent camp with volunteers providing medical care, distributing supplies, medications, and food to all hurricane victims in the region which is a significant task, and support to the Red Cross. They are providing volunteers with a place to camp, food, and internet communications and community! and have organized a large response for victims of Katrina.
If you are interested in volunteering in the field or are interested in helping support the field from Los Angeles, please contact AIDSail with your available dates.

A note from Pat Tate in the field with Veterans for Peace
We unloaded 55 pallets of supplies yesterday evening from their 54' semi. All done with manpower, it took under 2 hours. With luck all supplies will be distributed by days end today. We have many volunteers, but will need more for the effort to be sustained. Jim and crew arrived at around 5:30 PM local time and we pulled about 60 volunteers from camp to unload. The system works though we are still seeking a forklift.
Caravans are leaving weekly from Los Angeles to Covington, Louisiana. Contact Dan Kelly from VFP at kellysbiz@cox.net
